Hi,
I am currently looking into creating a site selling e-books. This is the tricky bit: I cannot keep any of the actual download documents on my site due to supply agreement, I can only show the book details.
From what I understand, my customer will visit my site and place an order and pay for it. Once payment has been received, a notification must be sent to the company who keeps a digital copy, who will then supply me with a download link to supply to the customer.
The process is this (from the supplier):
Order Placement to e-book company
1. You have an EBook Order to Place with e-book company.
1. Web Service called at e-book company with Order Data
2. Response Received indicating Order Received or Connection Failed (such as invalid Account/Login Details etc)
e-book company Place order with Digital Warehouse
2. e-book company Process Orders through to the Digital Warehouse and receive order acceptance or failure.
NB – Stages 1 and 2 above are independent. This way should there be a communications issue with stage 2 the orders can continue to be received and will be queued until orders can be placed under stage 2.
e-book company to supply EBook Download Confirmation
This can be achieved by one of two methods:
1. Customer provides a Web Service link so that e-book company can post details of the EBook Download to your system. Details and specification to be agreed.
2. Customers connects to e-book company via a hosted Web Service to collect details of available EBook Downloads.
So my order process will be:
1. Customer place order with me
2. Customer makes payment
3. Payment gateway sends confirmation of payment to me
4. Zen Cart e-mails supplier the new order
5. Supplier sends Zen Cart the download link
6. Zen Cart supplies download link to customer.
If such an addition is not available, can someone help me to write a program / add on to make sure I can take orders this way?
Barend
