EasyPopulate for Idiots.....?

and non-savy beginners?

ZC1.39
Easy populate corectly installed and accessable via the Admin page.
I've got an EXCEL file with pricing info from assorted my vendor and an image folder with coresponding pics.

Now what?

Stop laughing please.

Where in the world can I get some basic info and hand-holding on how to use this stuff on my site?

The FAQ/Tutorial section here didn't have anything to help me out.

I don't know anyone locally that has ever done this stuff before either.

Re: EasyPopulate for Idiots.....?

now we are getting more into instuctions on useing csv and excel files which isn't really directly related to zen but

what you need to do is a bit of copy and paste

in your suppliers excel is highlight the products you are selling in one of the colums then copy that and paste it into the corresponding colum in your EP (csv) file
ie:
name to product name
etc etc
do this colum at a time making sure you keep the rows corresponding to the right product
then save the ep file in its original format csv and upload to store

Re: EasyPopulate for Idiots.....?

Well I read through the Wiki, this one;
http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.php/Easy_Populate

Got the sample files to load into the DB and I can see them on the website.

So I moved onto a small parts file, about 325 products. Created the Delimited text file, imported my data from an Excel spreadsheet, saved, and then used the Browse button in the Admin-Tools-Easy Populate section. Added to the Database but I'm not seeing any products even though the upload completed without any errors.

What step am I not seeing?

Yes, 324 unique part numbers. All start with the number 1.

Re: EasyPopulate for Idiots.....?

you should have a look at Apsona, it error-checks before importing and is much more advanced than easy populate.

In your PRICES column, did you include a CURRENCY SYMBOL?

The values in this column must be numeric only - no currency symbols.

Re: EasyPopulate for Idiots.....?

If you are getting a blank page or blank screen, it is often because the files you uploaded are corrupted.

Or perhaps you did not send them to the correct folder. (If you RE-NAMED your admin folder on the server, then you need to RE-NAME the admin folder in the unzipped EasyPopulate module, on your local machine.

You need to make sure you are using a good FTP program.

Try sending (FTP) the EP module again and overwrite the files already there.
