    Default Missing Order Confirmation when buyer purchase via PayPal payment method

    Hello on my zen cart I have PayPal payment method only so the buyers only can pay via PayPal, the buyers pass all the steps until they arrive to PayPal, they pay and I receive to my email the PayPal payment confirmation but I don't receive the Order Confirmation from the zen cart, so I can't know what they buyers actually buy.

    Weird problem, what can I do?

    In the admin for this module select edit and at the bottom enable logging until you figure out what the issue is

    Then make some test purchases

    the logs will be in the following location

    /includes/modules/payment/paypal/logs

    admin > modules > payment > select your paypal module > edit > look at the bottom and check the enable logging

    I did this and also I made some test purchase and there is no log file on the directory.

    also after I made purchase via paypal after 10 sec He redirected me to the checkout_success.

    and there order number is missing.
    and I there is no order in the zen cart admin

    That happens with the PayPal IPN approach when PayPal's server cannot or does not talk to *your* server to tell it about the new order, for any reason.
    If you're using the PayPal IPN (aka Website Payments Standard) module, then you're subjecting your site to PayPal's older architecture limitations, and would be FAR better off switching to PayPal Express Checkout which is not limited by the design and communication problems that their old "standard" service has.

    So, your solution is:

    1. Make sure you're using the latest version of Zen Cart.
    2. Click on your PayPal Website Payments Standard module, and click "REMOVE".
    3. Click on "PayPal Express Checkout", and click "INSTALL". Then configure it: www.zen-cart.com/getpaypal

    4. Then troubleshoot your IPN problems: http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.php/PayPal

    I am having kind of the same problem as the initial posted, however a bit different. I upgraded to 1.3.9h and used PayPal IPN as I did on the older version as it worked like a charm. Since the upgrade I have found that about 1 out of 10 orders processes in PayPal correctly with notifications, but no order confirmation from Zencart, or order listed in the Admin>Customers>Orders on the site. The customer info is listed under the Admin>Customers and shows zero for the order count. Additionally, I just got off the phone with one of these customers to find out what they had ordered, he logged into his site and it showed no items in the cart which I thought would have been there if PayPal came back to validate the order. I am enabling logging now but would accept and appreciate any ideas or feedback.

    Rod44, as kobra has said, switching to Express Checkout will avoid the problem of customers seeing "zero" for their order count, because your store won't have to wait for an IPN to process in the background.
    Evidently you've got something amuck going on when processing IPNs. While debug logging will help to a small degree, if you want to not lose any orders, using EC would be a much better choice all round.

    Kobra and Dr Byte,
    Thanks for the quick response (which I thought would be the case) and doing it today. I was hesitant to upgrade to Express as it was a big enough job doing the upgrade from 1.2.7 to the recent Zen and Standard had worked so well I thought it would be one less thing to have to add to my mental overload of the upgrade issues. Oh well, out with the old and in with the new!

    You guys are the best, and will be back if I have any further issues with this.
