Basic product listing page amendments?

Modifying Classic Contemporary Green template.

I want to add some vertical spaces to different parts of the all products listings.

1) Following "Displaying x of y (of y products)"

2)Following each listed product so that each listed product is horizontally separated by a line or two preventing each product image from vertically merging with the one below.

I wonder if it is the includes/template/CUSTOM/tpl_modules_products_all_listing.php that needs customisation? Or perhaps is this better done in a css file?
