    Default Search Function Not Working

    Hi All,

After uploading all my products using Easy Populate I noticed that when I seach for a product, like (Guest Book), no product shows up.

It doesn't matter what I put in the seach box, nothing shows up.

All I get is: There is no product that matches the search criteria

I'm not sure if Easy Populate has anything to due with the seach problem. However, when I look at the product description under admin, it put the product description in table format.

    I'm using 1.3.8a, Fual Slimbox, Fast & Checkout, IH2

    Has anyone run into this?

Go to phpMyAdmin and browse the table:
    products_to_categories

    and search for the products_id
    176

do you have a record for this?

Does it list the categories_id as 6?

I do have a record for products_id 176 and the categories_id is set to 6.

    What does that mean?

    Thanks

I am just looking for bad data from your import ...

Next test, switch to the Classic Template ... does the search work?

Next test, manually add a Product to one of your Categories in your Zen Cart Admin ... are you able to search for it and find it?

I tried switching templates and still cannot search.

When I manually add a product, the search works.

This leads me to believe that there is something wrong with the upload using Easy Populate.

I created a seperate csv file for each category. Then uploaded each csv file one at a time.

Sounds like you are producing bad data ...

A Product needs to have records related to:

    products - products_id master_categories_id
    products_description - products_id

    categories - categories_id
    categories_description - categories_id

    products_to_categories - products_id and categories_id

If a Product in the products table does not have a matching record on the products_id in the products_description then there will be a problem ...

If a Category in the categories table does not have a matching record on the categories_id in the categories_description then there will be a problem ...

If the Product is set to a categories_id in the products_to_categories table that does not exist in the categories table there will be a problem ...

If the Product has a master_categories_id that is not in the categories table there will be a problem ...

Is there a way to fix the products or do I need to delete them and manually add them back in?

Without knowing what you messed up on the data when you did the import it is hard to tell you ...

Something in the data is bad, incorrect or corrupt and you will need to find out what that is ...

    Perhaps try to:

    1 Make a Category Manually

2 Make a Product in that Manually created Category Manually

Now look at the tables that I listed and see what is different with your Manually added Category and Manually added Product that is not there or different or missing etc. in the imported Products and Categories ...

Many people are able to successfully import data with things like Easy Populate and Apsona once they figure out the issues or problems that they might be experiencing ...

I just figured out that I can search by Products Model:

I also created a test category and typed in the product info and still cannot search.

    Problem solved.

I followed this thread regarding Collation and used Dr. Byte's sql patch and it worked.
