    Default filezilla overwrite choices

i am doing ftp with filezilla between my home and my host. filezilla ask what type of overwrite to do.

it is a bit confusing, i ftp'ed with the 'newest' overwrite permission allowed, but my header.php file would not change. i had to go to my host file manager and write the code on the header.php, then it was fine.

i really would like to do all my editing at home and not from their file manager.

could you explain exactly the correct way to overwrite a file for the description i gave.

this is somewhat new to me(former frontpager) but i have managed some changes without destroying my site.

    thanks in advance

If you FTP the file to your local and edit it - save

On the server delete it and FTP the edited file up

Correct. If your overwrite setting is set to "replace old with new" and it's not being allowed to do that, then your server's permissions may be restricting things so your FTP can't do that ... in which case as kobra said, simply delete the old file first (using your FTP program) and then upload the new one.
