how would i go about making it required to pick an attribute on those items that have attributes? right not if you dont pick the attribute it automatically picks the most expensive option for you. I need my customers to pick the option they want before they can add to cart.

I have looked a dozen times at the first 2 threads, using "require attributes" as a search term and my answer it not there.

Add one more attribute and make it's value "Please Choose" or "Select" or whatever you like
Add it to the product and make it "Display Only"

Give all your attribute values a sort order with this one first

Did you do what I suggested? That will make selecting one mandatory
