Adding dropdown on checkout

Hi, what i would like to do is add a dropdown box on the checkout page, asking the customer how they found the site

I know there is a mod available but, it is for registrations mainly, as i just need info on each order placed regardless of whether they have an account or have had to create one

What i was thinking was, the results of the dropdown selection can be appended to the comments/instructions box that appears on the checkout pages, doing it this way would not need any major custom work on the pages.

I just wondered whether it would be possible this way

to add to my post, i have no problem in adding the dropdown, i need a way of adding this value to the order, either added as an additional text or placed inside the special instructions/commebts box
