SideBox Menu Just Top Level Categories?

Hi Guys

I have a customer that requires a very deep category structure. Once you get 3 levels deep, the side menu gets unreadable.

He is going to need to keep changing his menus, so I can't make them static links, they need to remain dynamically linked to the category structure.

Is there a way to just show the first level and not expand the tree? So the visitor would go on to use the links in the main page.

I'm stumped on this one. Would appreciate some help.

ADMIN > CONFIGURATION > LAYOUT SETTINGS

find:
Categories - Always Open to Show SubCategories

change to:
0= off, just show Top Categories
