Need help with coupon/email. New

I am new to zen cart but not to web design/progamming. I have an html email i'd like to send out as well as a discount coupon which is kind of like groupon where they can purchase a $10 giftcard for $5. I have the email coded up and a .jpg of the coupon, but i'm not really sure where to go from here to email customers and link them to my site where the .jpg coupon will live. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Not exactly sure what you're asking, but you can send (and create) emails in Zencart from Admin - Tools - Send Email.

I have the email coded up and when I put the html into the text editor to send an email, it all gets stripped out.

What version of Zencart ?

Do you have Zencart set to send HTML emails ?

I'm using v1.3.9g and i have use MIMI HTML set to true

I don't remember if it affected emails or not, but there is a bug in that version which messes up HTML in other areas. Try upgrading to 1.3.9h and see if the problem goes away.
