checkbox attribute not working

hi, we've just had our site upgraded to the latest version and I just tried to add a checkbox attribute to a product but it won't show up.

I made the option name and set it to be a checkbox, went to the product I wanted to asign it to, selected it from my list of attribute option names on the left, clicked to add it and nothing.

All other types seem to be working. Is this a bug that can be easily fixed? or am I doing something wrong? I do notice that the way attributes are added has changed slightly in this latest version of zen.
