Default Setting product prices using attributes

Ok, I'm in completely new territory - have looked around a bit but have absolutely no idea of what really to look for.

Basically I have 10 pieces of X - they will all be the same price.

I'd like to set up the cart so that if I adjust the price attribute then all of X items will display the new price at the same time so that I don't have to go one by one down the list in the catalogue.

Am I in the right area?

Are you trying to find a way for you to admin your pricing for these items or for your customer to make a selection?

    Admin

    For example:

I have greeting 15 greeting card sets - each set will have 5 cards per set in the package.

Instead of wanting to put $5.00 per item in the entire catalogue, I would like to give the product an attribute called GreetingCardSet - then the price for that product would appear as $5.00 based on the attribute.

Then if I ever need to change the price for the greeting card set - I would change the price on the attribute and then the price would change it on all of the other sets at the same time.

If I wanted to make one a sale item or special - I would remove the attribute on that 1 item and price it manually.

    Hope this explains it.

Typically The attributes pricing is for variations on a product that affect the price. I use attributes for food sold by the lb. The customer can select the number of lbs from a dropdown and the price is adjusted accordingly.
It sounds like you are looking to mass edit pricing for your card sets?
You may be better off using the easy populate mod to make bulk price changes right from a spread sheet?

Hmm- gave them a quick look - does this sound like the one?

site wide, category & product mark up

Still says 1.3.8 - any ideas if it would work with 1.3.9h?

I don't use that one. I prefer to handle my pricing markups external of ZC. Easy Populate (mentioned in my previous post) is just a mod to help info in and out of the databases. Again, once I have my pricing, I use Easy populate to insert all new prices. (I do 6700 items weekly).

Ok thanks - I missed the connection that easy populate was a mod.

    Will check it out.
