Default Crediting School/Student for purchase on Checkout

    Hi Folks,

Recently, my PM and I switched from a free template to a paid template for functionality reasons. The template is now up and running. We are getting ready to establish how the site will work in line with the old site and our business model.

We sell products to anyone who wants to use our site. However, we also do school and local organization advertising to raise funds for them. If a parent at a school purchase something, we give %20 to that school.

Is there a way to create a form via an add-on or something else that will let them select if they want to 'select a cause or organization', while they are checking out (or even before hand).

An example of this is at http://www.sallyfoster.com/sf/

At the top right it says 'support a fundraiser'.

I would like to add something like this to our page, so the students and schools can get the credit of their purchases.

If anyone has any immediate suggestions on how this could be obtained, I would love to pick your brain!

Our site can be found at http://www.testingthesite.com

    Thanks.

One way that wouldn't involve any add-ons would be to direct the customer to the message box during checkout. They would need to enter the information manually, but you would see it all in the confirmation email and the admin area.

It would take some simplr edits to the relevant language files, possibly css and template files if you want to highlight the area.

'Enter your cause or organization below, or leave blank'...?

This is a step in the right direction, and I follow what you're saying as well. Would this entered info just go to the e-mail confirmation order for us? Would it also drop into our database if we created the field?

When checking out, there is a box on the bottom of the both the shipping step and the payment info step that reads ' special instructions or order details' (something of the sort). I could change this text to what I need it to say. However, 1. I am worried customers may miss it and 2. Does this field go into the database, or will this just be appended to the e-mail only?

That's the box I was meaning (special instructions). The content from that box will be included in the database, and will be displayed for you in the admin area on the individual order page (in the comments section) and for the customer in their My Account area.
As for people missing it, you could highlight the area and add some extra text or an image. CSS for the highlight/color/background etc. and language files for additional text/image.

Ok, my main concern/requirement was that it was trackable through the Database, instead of just through a confirmation e-mail or logged in the admin panel, because that would be incredibly unorganized.

I also figured the text on the pages were editable, So i'll just have to find a way to ensure customers use the utility.

    Thanks for the help.

I am also curious if any other Zenners have had a site/business model that fit mine.
