Yes I have been seriously thinking to move to another host latetly. However, at this stage, I wouldn't want to go through moving etc for nothing. Is there any way to ensure the issue is indeed host-related?

I can't recreate the symptoms you're presenting. I'd be starting by installing a new store on the same server, from scratch, and seeing if the problem continues. Then decide what to do from there.

Okay, I've proceeded with a fresh install. All goes well until I reach the "setup - system setup" step (URL: http://www.mysite.com/zc_install/ind...e=system_setup) .... where the browser stalls again!
Sounds like the problem is with your hosting service.
Maybe it's a database problem. Maybe not. Either way that's part of the hosting service, and not something you or I can control.

I would contact ipowerweb to ask what the issue is.
just fyi, if you do decide to switch hosts, be sure to block them from taking payments from your account. We had to contact them several times to cancel but they kept taking payments. They even took the annual payment 2 years in a row after being cancelled.
I read about them doing this on several forums. How does one block them from doing this?I would contact ipowerweb to ask what the issue is.
