Default Is this a bug? can barely upload new data to the database

    Hello there,

I've just reset the Admin activity tracking Log table (after having received the 50,000 records/2 months message) via the Tools>Store Manager... (I saved the database before to proceed.)

Now, I access the admin where I can move around, access the various categories, info etc without any problems. However, if I try and upload a new data to the database (for example amend a shipping cost or an existing product, or create a new product etc) the browser stalls in some “upload” mode for hours, with a message at the bottom of the browser that reads Waiting for http://www.mywebsite.com/myadmin/............

I stop, wait for a while and upload it again and this time either it uploads successfully ... or NOT. I tried with different browsers and the result is the same.

I have restored the database to its prior state but it doesn't make an iota of difference.

I never encountered that issue before. Broadband Internet works fine on my end. Could the problem possibly be on the site host end? (The host tells me there is nothing wrong on their end, but that the problem is due to zencart).

    Please advise. Thanks!
PS: I'm using the latest zencart version and the site host is ipowerweb.

    I'm confused.
What on earth are you talking about?

To amend a shipping cost, why are you "uploading" something?
There are admin menu choices for handling shipping cost changes, editing products, adding new products. Why are you 'uploading' something for that?

    Hi DrByte,

    Sorry for the confusion.

By "uploading" I mean using the admin menu. E.G. hitting Preview > Update buttons under the admin to "upload" a product.

I tried again this morning but encountered the same problem.

    Thanks,

I was able to list a few products this morning, but now I am again having the same problem. I've tried using different computers, different browsers and from different locations but to no avail.

Could this be a local internet problem or a problem with ipowerweb server?

Sounds like something quirky with the hosting service. You might try a forum search for the name of your hosting company ... if I recall correctly they're not well-reputed

If you're considering another host, there's a certified-hosts link at the top of this page for some ideas.

Yes I have been seriously thinking to move to another host latetly. However, at this stage, I wouldn't want to go through moving etc for nothing. Is there any way to ensure the issue is indeed host-related?

I can't recreate the symptoms you're presenting. I'd be starting by installing a new store on the same server, from scratch, and seeing if the problem continues. Then decide what to do from there.

Okay, I've proceeded with a fresh install. All goes well until I reach the "setup - system setup" step (URL: http://www.mysite.com/zc_install/ind...e=system_setup) .... where the browser stalls again!

Sounds like the problem is with your hosting service.
Maybe it's a database problem. Maybe not. Either way that's part of the hosting service, and not something you or I can control.
