Layout issues

Hi All. I have some very specific things I'm trying to do to my site and I'm having a hard time finding out how to do them.

First of alll on the main page

i want to:
remove the congratulations and welcome
change the size of the category images and maybe remove the text link.
and possibly remove the recent products display along with the bad pink banner

on the product listing pages like this

http://katrinalapenne.com/zen_shop/i...=index&cPath=2

i want to:
remove the category image
remove the "filter results by" drop down menu
and edit the layout of the product listings

if anyone can help me out with any or all of these issues i would greatly appreciate it. thanks!

To enlarge the Category images will be done in the administration panel...

1. change the 1 to 0 ...
