Combining Products for Discount Price

I found a couple of posts on combining products for discount pricing (http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=106881 and http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=117617). Could anyone please expand on the attributes solution or advise the best method to accomplish? I am not clear how to do this.

We have books and some of the books are sets, example: book 1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of 3, etc., or any variation of how many make up a set. They may be purchased singly, but if a set of all 3 or whatever number, a discounted set price would apply, and the books that make up the set should show together. What is the best way to set this up? Thank you!

The best way is one that you favor....

While there are several ways to do this, one, if you are not stock limited is to create attributes under one product for combinations

Maybe:
example book

Attributes drop down
Vol1
vol2
vol3
vol1&2
vol1&3
vol2&3
vol1,2&3

And price accordlingly

Thank you, that sounds like a clear and workable solution, and makes sense to my newbie brain . . . . Since I have not setup attributes yet, I'll study the tutorials to learn how to implement this, thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction, am very glad to learn this.

Thank you, that is helpful. I had been wondering if the images from each of each of the single books could be on the listing and based on your sample, it appears possible, and was also wondering the best way to set up the option name, and it looks like you used 'sets', so that helps quite a bit, thank you so much. I'm reading some tutorials on all this, and am in the Attribute Controller seeing what to do, so this is very helpful, thank you.
