Easy Populate Alternative

Where would I find the list of tables affected when inserting a product? I've got a big xml file parsed into the format Easy Populate says to, get no errors, but still have no products.

I wonder if it'd just be easier to have my parsing script insert items as it goes.

What tables depends upon what category they need to be in and if they have any attributes associated with them

I did, and have followed it I think to a T. There are no error messages in my apache logs. Is there somewhere else I should be checking?
