Your server isn't reaching your email server:
This suggests that your hosting company has changed things such that your server cannot connect to the other server.
Could be a blocked port.
Could be broken server (internal) SSL? TLS? etc

So, yes, seems like GoDaddy problem.


What version of Zen Cart are you using?

I'm current with 1.3.9h. Guess I need to get back on the phone with GD! It is strange that when I called earlier, that they were successful in sending mail with my contact form (twice), but I can't!

The port setting for outgoing mail is 465, but if this was blocked by them, wouldn't that also prevent sending mail from my email client as well?

Update: Ok, missed "scratch that" in your reply, so guess we're down to the GD issue!

Thanks Kobra! Understood about the client. Makes sense, so back to GD!

Good news is, upon a black list check, I am "all green" and not listed with any of the 103 blacklists returned, so good news there....

So, now back on the phone with GD! Will post the results shortly.

BTW: I really appreciate all the help, Kobra & DrByte! Feel like you guys have helped me narrow it down, so now on to beat up GD!

What maile server did you enter??
If you entered your domain then it would come back green as your domain does not run it's own mail server
You need to enter the GD mail server

As far as blacklisting goes, if you're sending your email through gmail, then it would be google's servers handling your mail ... and while google isn't perfect I imagine they've got some sort of arrangement which prevents them from being blacklisted.

But, as I said, "Could not connect to SMTP host" messages mean that your webstore can't connect to the specified mailserver to send the emails. That's got nothing to do with being blacklisted.

Well, another 45 minutes on the phone with GD, and another dead-end! They swear that they do not block any ports, and that their server is working fine.

Again they tried to send from my contact-us, and it worked! Just so strange that it works for them and no one else. Really makes me think that the issue does exist with them, but can't seem to get them to do anything!

I think that my only work-around is to setup an email on my domain, and somehow try to incorporate "through" gmail, so as not to confuse my customers.

Just haven't decided how to do that yet. Guess i will sleep on it and try tomorrow with a fresh brain.... I really need to fix this quick, so that if someone tries to contact me and I don't answer (or get it), I don't want to have them think I'm just not responding!

Have you tried having some friends or colleagues test the form for you and see whether it works for them?
