    Default Adding a Search Box

    Hi there,

I have recently gotten my Template Monster template up and running, using the Installation support from Template Tuning.

One functional part of my website that really needs to be fixed is that there is no search box. Almost all sites have one these days, and customers really need one.

As you can see here: http://www.testingthesite.com at the top there is a currencies box. That is not necessary and I would love to replace that with a search box. In the layout box controller, everything is set to 'off' except best sellers and categories. I just turned on the search box, and If you jump to the products page or any other page here http://testingthesite.com/index.php?...e=products_new you can see where it is appearing. Obviously I did not assume it would jump to my header, but is there anyway through .css customization or anything else that I can get these boxes replaced?

Thanks So much this is urgent!!

Their support tells me to hold on while they check, and then disconnect me for inactivity.

The first person I spoke with told me to turn off the currencies layoutbox in the zen cart admin panel. However, it is already OFF! by the time I tried to respond we were disconnected.

Does anyone else know how I can achieve this?

Ok, I've removed the box using PHP comments. Is there a simple set of code that I can add into the tpl_header.php file that will give me a functioning search box? Tech support says that a search box is not included in the template, and I could purchase this function though templatetuning (gag me).

If TM edited tpl_header.php to remove that search function, there should be a copy of that file in includes/templates/template398/common. You could compare that file with a clean version to see what they removed, and put it back.

    It looks like this:

    <div id="navMainSearch"><?php require(DIR_WS_MODULES . 'sideboxes/search_header.php'); ?></div>

If that's there, they've done something with the search_header.php file mentioned in the code.

that's funny.. they want to charge you to enable a feature that already comes standard in the cart.

sorry, doubt you'll find much advice on how to work with a templatemonster product on these forums.. search for template monster for many examples of this kind of nonsense.

I understand many people may not want to help. We began with a free template and were not getting where we wanted to go by now in the project. The template will be professional and clean and give us what we are looking for. EXCEPT for the search!!

Ill begin by seeing if we possess the search_header file. Thanks.

The search_header.php is gone. I used the developers tool kit to search and the only things that came up were in template_default.

How simple would it be to just use some HTML to put on in there? seems simple, but getting it to search your site sounds more difficult.

Could I add the file from the default template and then add that code into my tpl_header.php ??

The file was in my modules > sidebox folder. I added the code in where currencies used to be. It is there now, and also works. However, it has pushed my shopping cart out of the way.

Anyone see what is causing this?
