Making changes to my site

I am using zencart version 1.3.9h and I can't seem to make any changes to my homepage. I downloaded zencart through my hosting provider(godaddy) and when I access english.php to make change to my page title nothing happens. What could be the reason for this?

Note: I am able to make changes through admin define pages, and I'm able to make changes through my css.stylesheet in my cutsom template, but nothing seems to change when I modify files in english.php.

Please help, I need to start building my store

Possibly a file permissions problem. What are the permissions set to for that file ?

A link to the site might let us spot something.

You might search these forums for your host's name to see what others' experience has been, and consider installing Zencart manually.

I can't find any header files. I don't seem to have this file: includes/languages/english/header.php I do, however have includes/languages/english.php

but modifiying this changes nothing for my site.
it says this in the beginning:

It says moved to meta-tags...should i try to modify it from there? Also, I can't seem to find meta-tags.

You have to have these files

and meta_tags.php is at

/includes/languages/english/meta_tags.php

Hmmm...I don't have it. Do you think my hosting site didn't download everything correctly? Is it better to manually install and use my FTP?

I would hate to have to start all the way over, but if I'm missing files, then I really dont have a choice, do I. Can I download these files?

Assuming you are just starting out

Get the distribution of the version you are using

admin > tools > server/versions > look for ZenCart version

http://sourceforge.net/projects/zencart/files/

Expand locally and FTP & overwrite current folders/files

Okay, I've located the files. Although now when I change them when I try to view my page it says 500 internal Server Error

That means something you have set is not liked by your server
