    Default Unusual Paypal Express Behaviour

    I'm using zc 1.3.9h, Paypal Express, Canada Post, many mods.

    I tested PPExpress live within Canada and all the correct things seemed to happen - correct emails sent, correct amounts deposited etc.

    Today I had an order from USA in $CAN via paypal express. The $ went to pending as I don't keep a $CAN balance - default is US$ - and I subsequently accepted payment after receiving the correct notifications from paypal and from the cart. The order showed initially as pending. After I accepted the payment it still shows as pending. On the order listing page, the payment/shipping shows as PaypalWPP/CanadaPost.

    A second order listing, status 'processing' - and which appeared at same time as initial order - shows payment/shipping GV/DC, no order information or name or detail and a balance of zero. The details of the order show only an IP address (belongs to EBay) and the steps of a paypal transaction being pending then, when I accepted the payment above, adding that the transaction had been completed.

    I did receive the correct payment in my account, and the order was handled correctly by the cart - emails sent etc.

    So its these strange follow up happenings from paypal that are muddying the waters.

    The only other payment mod I have is Ceon manual. I have only Paypal Express, with the 'recommended' settings selected. I do not have the gift voucher mod installed.

    Any thoughts?

    That would be normal until PayPal sends an IPN notice to your store to update it. if there's any problem with that communication process then your store won't show the update.

    Yes, that's no surprise, since the Express Checkout code is handled by a module whose code name is "paypalwpp". Don't confuse that with Website Payments Pro whose code name is "paypaldp" ("DP" = "direct payment").

    So, you're saying that *that* was a duplicate order? And that it existed *before* you did the currency-acceptance in PayPal?
    If it ended up having the same PayPal transaction ID tied to it as the earlier one, then the IPN notification has evidently tied to this order instead and marked it as Processing as it would be expected to do.

    The quick fix for *this* instance is to manually add an order comment to the actual order, and update its status to Processing.
    And delete the duplicate order.

    Yes. The original order, status pending, came in first, along with associated paypal notice and cart notice to my email.

    The duplicate, status, processing, marked GV/DC and order number one higher than orginal order but with no name or order content, only an IP tied to eBay, but same transaction number and a order and balance of $zero came in second. It showed a multi-currency transaction in $CAN paid by a confirmed account and then a second entry that the transaction was pending (but in admin it was marked as processing).

    When I accepted the payment in paypal site, the duplicate $zero order subesquently showed a third message that the payment was accepted and the order was now 'processing' and in the admin screen this order remained as 'processing'.

    I'm not bothered - order made, payment received, customer notified etc. I wondered if this was just one of those cobwebs in the 'puter things, or if there was some frizzling because of an order in CAN$ coming from the US into a Canadian store with a default currency of US$. But I thought I'd post the situation to make sure it didn't run a flag up anyone's pole.

    I'll adjust the original order manually.
