help question Opening a Different Image on Zoom

Is it possible to open a different image when the customer zooms in on an image? When viewing a product, there's a 'click to zoom' option. This is only good if the image you provide is large, and is the exact image you want to show as your product. I would like to have a different image appear. How can I do this with relative ease?

    Thanks,
    BP

I tried the strategy of ending an image with _LRG, but it displays too many images on my product page. I just want to be able to click the original image to see the larger version. Please see the attachment for a visualization of my predicament. :)

Hi, under this section is a very good" sticky" on image preparation,
if you follow that i don't think you can go wrong.
You can use a different image for the zoom/large image, so long as it has the same name as the original image, and extension LRG.
I have had problems where different images had similar spelling or the first 4 letters were the same, when enlarged, a different image would get displayed. It took a while for me to sort it out, after a customer pointed it out.

You could do it by naming your larger image the same as the small one and putting the LRG suffix on it - but why would you want to confuse your customers? When they click on the small image, they expect to see the same image only larger ...

Also, I'm using the _LRG naming convention, but for some reason the image actually displays on the page (as per my visual). My regular image is off to the site where it's supposed to be, but my _LRG is in the middle. I just want to know how to get rid of it. Something in admin?

Also, is there a way to upload the _LRG image using the admin panel? I'm using FTP. I'm ok with it, but I want to make it easy or others to use.

Thanks for the help so far!

Yeah! Something like that. I noticed that your zoomed-in image was a different file from the one displayed as your thumbnail. For some reason when I do that using the _LRG extension, it looks like the image I provided.

Hi, the only differnce is the file name extension.
    My images are setup like so;
    small image i use 120 x 120 px.
    Medium image i use 240 x 240 px.
    The large image i use 440 x 440 px

What size mages are you using?

help question Re: Opening a Different Image on Zoom

I'm using the default. I'm just not sure why it's popping up like this.

OH! Here's another question. Can I make my enlarged extension different from the normal? For example, what if I want it to be a PDF, or a PNG?

And another. Is there a way I can get my other image formats on my site without using FTP? I like FTP, but it may be confusing for others to use.
