Show accepted credit cards

We have two credit cards enabled for our cart (1.3.9a). However, these don't appear as "accepted cards" during the checkout process. No cards at all are shown.

I've looked in configuration > credit cards and edited each card, the but only option I can see is whether the cards is enabled (yes/no), nothing about whether its image appears.

Where else should I be looking?

admin -> configuration -> credit cards -> Credit Card Enabled - Show on Payment

show as text
show as image
