Limiting special sale to X available

Curious if there is a way to limit the amount available for sale. Say someone wants to sell an item at $5 with free shipping but only 200 available and that's it. How would I go about doing that?

If you are using stock controls and your inventory is 200 that will limit the number that can be purchased

Thank you!! I love the support on this forum, you hardly ever see that anymore everyone helping each other.

We don't use stock control, though. Is there a workaround I can use, set up the product separately (a duplicate with different name), but I don't see where you can apply stock control to one product.

You would have to fool it then

Make the stock for all other products very high i.e. 100,000

Enable stock control
admin > config > stock

Create the special and make the stock 200
