    Default Compatibility with mysql 5

    Hi,

I'm currently running zencart 1.3.5 on:

    php 5.2.5
    mysql 4.1.22
    Apache 3 on Linux

my webhost has announced that they will be upgrading to mysql 5 in just a few days time - not enough time for me to upgrade my zencart to a later version.

Does anyone have any experience in running 1.3.5 on mysql 5 or, if not, know of any possible issues I may encounter. I am happy to change code myself I just need a few pointers.

    Many thanks
    Victoria

That should be plenty of time if you get started

You might have to put off going out this weekend!!

Just create a folder and a new Database and begin

Unfortunately I don't have enough time to upgrade at the moment - I would certainly be doing so if I did.

I was hoping for some practical advice to patch things up before I do have time to upgrade. From scouring the forum as far as I can see my main problems may be:

STRICT_TRANS issues - my webhosts are not sure if they can turn off this configuration option yet so I will assume they can't. I see in the next version up (1.3.6) that various STRICT_TRANS changes were made - is there any detailed documentation which lets me know what areas may cause me particular problems?

Possible session issues - I'm sure I read in another forum post that I could copy the sessions.php file from 1.3.7 and use that. Is that right?

Dr. Byte, you seem to be a guru in this area - any advice gratefully received.

    Thanks

There is no detailed documentation on what you asking about, and since you're asking about mixing files from two releases dating back to 2006, it's unlikely that anybody is going to have particularly clear memories of any pitfalls in doing so.

The only officially supported version of Zen Cart is 1.3.9, and the world has moved on an awfully long way since 2006. I get that you don't want to upgrade at this time, but it's the only safe advice that we can give. There are known vulnerabilities in the earlier versions and, as you're seeing, potential incompatibilities with up-to-date server configurations.
