yes - I have tried using both my own personal email, and my admin email (at separate times) in the format as you suggested.
Also - yes, just tried Gift Certificates - these are successfully received when using the admin's email (as a customer)
I also tried it sending to a non-admin address (as customer) - again received ok
I also went in and changed the status to '1' (on) in email config to see if admin would receive a copy - however, still no email to admin.

) mainly because of my assorted modifications. However, I do have all security patches etc uptodate pertaining to my version. (I had this professionally verified late last year as well).
