Default Connection to database failing during install

Urgh...this old problem. I need some help with this!!

I am using Bluehost where I have created a MySQL database. I created the username then added it to the database, ticking all the permissions boxes.

Now, during install - for the past 3 hours of tying, I keep getting the error message:
    Connection to Database failed
Access denied for user 'rerdownl_user'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

My database host I have left as localhost
My database username as rerdownl_user (which is the username i chose setting up)
    My database password *********** OK
My database name as rerdownl_database (which is the database I created)

Is that correct?? I am not sure I have all the prefixes correct. Ive tried loads of variations to no avail. Username AND password are correct I am sure.

Any advice would be much appreciated in these crazy times.

    My specs:
    Zen Cart v1.3.9
    Snow Leopard 10.6.6

not sure what other info to give you..hope thats ok but anyting else just ask!

    Thanks again folks!

I would just tripple check the spelling and that the pass is actually correct

This should be straight forward without the error

    I am using Bluehost
I did not know that they provided hosting on MAC servers???

Should be right. Try using your control panel login and password to see if the problem might be the credentials you created.

Did you add the user to the database? Did you create the user? Click the sql databases tab in control panel, scroll down, add user to database. If it's not there then create user, then add.

    Right,
OK Panic over!! It is sorted!
I created ANOTHER user and made my own password which was a bit simpler than the one given by the password generator.
Though, I AM SURE that i had that stuff correct....geez I guess I look silly!

    Anyway,
THANKS for all your replies and suggestions! Isn't it great when everything works!
