Search function problem

OK, Here goes.

I have been setting up a page for our upcoming business.
I have purchased a template and got it installed, set up some sample products and basically tuned it up to be fully functional... Except...

On the main page there is a shopping cart indicator which is ugly and I wouldn't mind removing somehow and more importantly, below it is a search field that is not working.
I noticed by accidentally clicking on it and noticed it jump straight to the shopping cart page.
I then realised that you can't enter any text, even clicking the text box redirects to the cart.

I would be happy to remove the search box altogether.

So, how do i fix this problem/remove the search box and is it easy to remove the cart icon and indicator also.

This is Template Monster Template and is a issue needs to be addressed and fixed by Them .. if you do a quick search for template monster , you will notice complains about their templates.
