Possible to set a default for Maximum download count?

I forgot to change the default value of the field "Maximum download count" from 0 to something greater than 0 when I created a new product (I'm referring to the attribute controller screen). I then learned that customers couldn't download the product. When I noticed this was 0, I changed it to 5, which fixed it for all subsequent customers (though it didn't seem to fix the sales made prior to the fix - I suppose that is by design?).

Anyway, is there a way to change the default value of "Maximum download count" from "0" to "5" in the attribute controller? I'd like to avoid this issue going forward (because I'll surely forget to change it again when I add a new product ). I likewise want to change the default "expiry date" to 14 if you can point me in the right direction for that as well.
