Default Changing Color of Item Name in View Cart

    Using 1.3.7
The site is not live yet.

My site has white text on black background. Therefore, when viewing the cart, the Item Name is white text displayed on a white background and cannot be seen until moused over (if two items are in the cart, the next bar is light blue and can barely be read).

How can I make the Item Name be in black text so it can be seen?

    Thanks, -Doug

If you are building a new site, why are you using such an old version of Zen Cart? You are guaranteed to get hacked the moment a hacker finds your site. You should be working with v1.3.9h, the latest and most secure.

I was having a site built by HIT web design which you may have heard just went belly up. They installed this version about 6 months ago. I know nothing about Zen. I guess I will take your advice and look into upgrading, although I really have no time to learn any of this while I run a business. I probably should just find a web person that knows Zen very well. I have lots of small issues that I cannot find answers to.

In any case, do you know how to resolve my issue above?

V1.3.7 is about 3 years old, and no professional developer should ever have installed it when a much newer and better version was available (v1.3.9f/g/h at that time).
Depending on how many mods you have installed, it may not be a big job to upgrade. Doing it yourself will take much longer (probably a day all told for your first time) than it would for a pro, but it is valuable to have some knowledge of your site's architecture even if you won't be spending a lot of time coding changes to it. There are tutorials on upgrading, and every new version's file package has documents detailing the process.

.cartProductDisplay {} or .cartProductDisplay a {} control the product name in the shopping cart page.

Thanks, 42, for your help. I am ordering the 390 page Zen manual today. I have seen lots of posts about modifying files like the ones you directed me towards. Question - Where do I find these files? All I am familiar with is opening up the Admin panel. These other files must be on my hosting company's server. Is that correct? How do I access them?

Thanks again for helping a newbie.

As a side note, I have done computer programming years ago, but now I run a machine shop full time that I own and I just don't have time to figure all this stuff out. But as you correctly state, I should learn a little.

    Thanks again.

If you have any programming experience, picking up the basics of PHP and HTML shouldn't be hard. I first learned programming (Fortran 4) 35 years ago, and didn't use it for 30 years aside from writing macros for a CAD program. You can get good quick info at www.w3schools.com .

All of the files including admin are on your host's server. You access them by FTP to download, edit and reupload.

I learned Fortran in college in 1977. Also learned Basic, and then bought and used PowerBasic (a compiled version) for years to do little helpful things. I will look into the site you suggested, and learn about FTP. I know it is an account of some kind to up/down load files, but that's all I know. I will contact my hosting company to set it up.

    Thanks for all the help.

An FTP client is a utility program you use to transfer files from your computer to/from a remote computer. Filezilla is a good free one you can get from Sourceforge. There are lots of different ones, some good and some not so good.

You need an FTP account on your server - your host can set it up or tell you how to do it.
