    Default Intermittent Coupon Problem -- orders marked Pending

    We are using 1.3.8a - on a linux server as of last Friday, was on a Windows server before that (this problem has happened on both).

    In short, we give out coupons. Sometimes, when the coupon we give out is for the person to get a free PDF (i.e. the coupon meant to give the customer a free PDF), instead of Zen Cart marking the order as Paid, it sets it as Pending.

    As I said, this doesn't happen to everybody, and I don't think I have seen it hit the same person twice. It has happened on different coupons and different customers.

    There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to this.

    Anysuggestions or tips on where to look to see if I can find the cause of the issue would be appreciated.

    Could you check the setting in the Configuration ... GV Coupon ... for:
    Default Order Status For Zero Balance Orders
    When an order's balance is zero, this order status will be assigned to it.
    Have you noticed this on 0 Balance Orders?

    1) The problem only happens on zero balance orders.

    2) The problem does NOT happen on all zero balance orders (hence the "intermittent") of folks using coupons.

    3) Default Order status for GV Coupon with zero balance is "Paid[2]"

    For example, I recent set up a coupon to give the first 100 people to use it a free copy of a PDF. So far, 49 individuals have used this coupon. All 49 used the coupon to ONLY get this PDF, and thus all have zero balance orders.

    Of those 49, about 4 or 5 ended up as Pending instead of Paid. And I have no idea why.

    That is rather odd ...

    With something so inconsistant it may take time to find the cause ...

    Just a thought ... how many of those with the wrong orders_status are taxable customers?

    More or less do you see any pattern in the customers such as same state, zone, etc.

    Unfortunately, I already updated them all -- but now that you mention it, one of the guys who did email us about it (his zero sum order sitting as Pending 3 days) was from the one taxable zone we have (Virginia).

    I will have to keep a closer eye on that.
