Default Using language folder name with extended ASCII character

If I try to add a language pack with root files and folders named español:

    a) admin reports missing language files
    b) debug reports
[31-Mar-2011 11:36:20] PHP Warning: include_once(includes/languages/español.php) [<a href='function.include-once'>function.include-once</a>]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in D:\My Documents\xxxxxx\spanish website\public_html\tienda\includes\init_includes\init_templates.php on line 72

if I use espanol its ok.

Tried on an almost clean zc install, local xampp.

    Can this be fixed?

Default Re: Using language folder name with extended ASCII character

This looks like an issue with the way in which your php installation is handling the extended ascii character in pathnames. Personally I'd run from this as fast as I can.

Even if you get it working on your local xampp installation, there's no guarantee that the solution would work on a Linux or IIS server. Conversely, the problem might be localised to your development machine and not a problem at all on a remote server.

It's one of those where unless you willing to go out and test across a number of platforms, it's safer to go with something known to work.
