Need banner advice and some general page critique

Aside from that, I want to add a banner at the top. I understand that it is header 1. I went to tools>banner-manager and created a banner by using a special photo that I cropped for the occasion (that word looks spelled wrong) and I added it to a new banner group called bwphotos-banners.

I then went to config>layout-settings and Banner-groups-header-position-1 to use banners from bwphotos-banners.

My banner did not show up on my page. Why?

Your banner group name is:
bwphotos-banners

that is 16 characters and the field is 15 characters ...

So, the name is getting cut off ...

You would need to either change your Banner Group name or change the width of the field in the banners table for the field:
banners_group

to be larger than 15 ...

That was a very astute observation. I changed the name to bwphotosbanners...15 letters. When I opened the page the nmae of the banner appeared at the top of the page, but not banner did not.

When I turned off all the boxes on the right side of the screen could I have done something to effect the top banner?
