Default Counter History for last 10 days

This is a very generic question, but I have always wondered how I should interpret the box entitled "Counter History for the last 10 Recorded days" and "Session - Total" that appears on the Admin homepage.

It always give as range, such as:

    04/03/2011 999 - 3923
    04/02/2011 898 - 4861
    04/01/2011 1230 - 5664

How should I interpret that? Looking at the notation for 4/3/2011, does that mean that we really had 3923 hits/users visit our website? Why the range of numbers?

    Thank you.

If a person leaves my site and later in the same day comes back, will they be added to the counted number again? Or will they be ignored because they are returning?

I am just asking because I added Googles Adsense, and I feel I might be losing customers.

Every session created from the first hit is counted in the first value ...

This means if I come to your site at 9:00am and visit 12 pages, the first number gets incremented by 1 and the second number gets incremented by 12 ...

Later, if I come back to your site at 11:00am and hit 9 pages, again the first number gets incremented by 1 and the second number by 9 ...

Thank you. That clears up a few of my questions.
