    Default new host move---password trouble

I moved my store from the old host to the new host following the instruction in the tutorials section and all went well.

So far I have only 1 person that is having trouble logging in....it claims her password is not right.

I went into her account using the admin password and was able to log in with her email...yay but when I went to the account area to change her password by entering her old one and just repeating it in the next two sections---it said the old one did not match the records.

since the database encodes them I can not see how it may differ and therefore can not change the password---not even by entering it into the database in the password line for her account

how can I fix this--fantasiesrealm link in signature

Um ... you logged in with HER password? or with a "master" password via an addon?

Did you, or she, try the Forgot My Password option to have the system generate a new one and email it to her?

I logged in with her email and password and it claimed not to work

then I logged in with my master pass via the addon (i love that addon) and it allowed me to her account, went to change the pass and claimed the old password was not the one in the system.

we both tried the retrieval and she did not get an email even though it said it sent it.

Okay, so the password-reset would have reset the password, which explains why neither of you can use the original password anymore.

The usual cause of password-reset emails not being received is that they end up in a spam folder or get rejected by the email server even before spam detection filters it out. That's usually stopped by changing your store's Email Transport setting to SMTPAUTH and setting up all the corresponding smtp settings.

ok, it has always been set to sendmail since the former virtual server and this one are linux. I will try the setting you said and hope she gets it, will let you know tomorrow when she gets up

as far as I know everyone else is getting the emails from the store -- like their copies of the orders.

ok, got her info fixed but still no email is going out to her

have tried every setting in the admin section and all claim to send the email but she is not getting them so will have her check her spam filter and hope it is not like one of my testers---hers has been blocked via AT&T

still waiting for them to release our emails and she has been getting them for over a year with old host.
