Issue uploading News Box Manager

Hi, Hope you can help, I am trying to install news box manager but cannot find information on where to upload the files to. I am new to zen cart and used to wordpress plug-ins. I have changed css and added sql patch so I can see the boxes in layout manager but no idea where to upload the files, tried under sideboxes in custom template (put the .php with the other sidebox phps etc but no idea what I do with the rest). Do I unpack and just upload certian elements? Tried a few things but still can't see the option in the Admin-Tools. Any help appreciated (and please talk to me like I'm completely stupid so I can do it!)

Most (but not all) Zencart mods place their files in a directory 'tree' with all the folders and files in their proper places, so all you need to do in this case is change the name of the 'admin' folder in the mod to your custom admin folder name, then drag it and the 'includes' folder to the root (top) directory of your store.

Can you clarify what you mean by change name of admin file to custom name?

This is in the read me file....Have done the SQL and modified the CSS. Not getting something here - I know it is where I am trying to put the files, I don't really understand what names I am changing and where the files go. You mentioned put in the root is that the public html file or the shop file or the custom template file etc. Thanks in advance.



In the dir includes/templates/ you could change the dir TEMPLATE_DEFAULT to your template dir

Just copy the files into your Zen-Cart Installation.

Now go to your Adminpanel --> TOOLS --> SQL PATCHES an upload the included file INSTALL.SQL or copy the content of the file INSTALL.SQL into the Adminpanel.

Banging my head on a wall! Tried upzipping includes file to main root includes, also to shop/includes and to customtemplate/includes. Have changed default template names to custom template names. Tried uploading admin part to shop/admin file. Still nothing apprearing on the tools drop down menu. Sideboxes are showing in layout seetings and Layout Boxes so it's just getting it in the right dir so I can actually write the flipping news! Please help!

You're overthinking this.

Unzip the mod to your local computer.

When you installed Zencart, you were required to change the name of the 'admin' folder to something else (if not, you're using an outdated version of Zencart and really should to start with, or upgrade to, the current version (1.3.9h) before you go any further.

Change the name of the 'admin' folder in the mod to whatever you renamed your store's admin folder to (or leave it as 'admin' if that's what your store folder is still called).

Using your FTP program, drag the 'admin' and 'includes' folders from the mod to the root (top) directory of your store (the directory where 'admin' and 'includes' folders are now).

That's it. All the mod folders and files will end up where they need to be.

Thanks, started again with this and uploaded as described (took a bit of fiddling as lots of duplicates after my fiddling!) to admin folder in store, I'm on the previous version, too complicated for me to update right now until I learn more about zencart. So now have the news in tools section, have written a post but it is not showing - have published it. I have the details in layout settings and layout boxes controller (and have switched on). Any idea? Sorry to keep on at this, it's annoying to me that it takes so long, I'm just helping out a friend - give me back the wordpress plug-ins!
