Group versus Product discount

I have done a little research in the forums. I expected to find an answer but have not:

I seems obvious to me that a customer entitled to a group discount should not also get a product sale discount.

If the group discount is 10%, that should apply to the normal regular standard non-sale price for the item. I am open to alternative business logic but certainly not including double discounting.

Where do I configure that?

Maybe my explanation is not clear.

I have a product that is $100 to retail customers and 15% discounted to wholesale customers.

Retail pays $100
Wholesale pays $85

I put the item on sale using salemaker for retail customers @ $90
Wholesalers STILL PAY $85

Currently, the group discount is being applied to the salemaker price, not the list price, resulting in a double discount which does not make sense to me.

The native Zen group pricing function gives the group discount in addition to sales and specials. Sounds like OGP might be useful for you.
