Shipping Method Options (don't want)

We are using 1.3.9h to host silverdiscvideogames on Godaddy. This is a fresh install as of last Friday with no add-ons using the default template with minor appearance changes.

We are struggling with getting the USPS shipping module working.
Saw a post indicating that the USPS system changed as of Feb 2011 and something else will change again in May. Found a link with the update to the shipping module:

with a patch on post #26 that was supposed to fix some things. Went ahead and applied the patch and reinstalled the USPS module. Still getting the same "We are unable to find a USPS shipping quote..." error and users are presented with two options for shipping, "best way" and "zone rates" which allows, say, Canadian users to select the cheaper method of shipment...we do not want that. We would like the shipment method predetermined based on where the customer is from. We have the module pointing to the production server.

If the answer is somewhere, please point us to it, as we have looked the best we can.

If you want to use USPS for Canada you have to enable some of the shipping methods for International ...

You currently have all shipping methods for International unchecked so they are not going to work for Canada ...

If you only want the USPS for the US, then create a Zone Definition for US Shipping and add the DETAILS for what you want to use as your definition of the US for USPS ...

Thank you, enabling international shipping resolved that error message.

Yes, we do want to use USPS for both domestic and international shipping. However, the "shipping method" screen offers the customer two options...we do not want that. We'd like it to only provide the "priority mail international flat rate" option, or else the user will want to select the cheaper option.

Is there a way to turn off the "per unit" "best way" option so they can not choose that?

If you go to your Modules ... Shipping ... and click on Per Unit perweightunit and click REMOVE ... then it will not show ...

I have removed the perwightunit module to have only the usps linked. I now have checked off the box where it says priority flat rate envelope under international. I only have first class mail checked under domestic. I do a mock order for Canada and it only gives me an option for USPS first class for United States for $2.98. I know that shipping internationally costs around 13.00. How do I make United States and other Countries separate?

1. We suddenly started getting the "...we are unable to find a USPS shipping quote..." error so we confirmed that we installed the 1-2-11 update (we did it yesterday actually but confirmed today by comparing the date stamp and file size of usps.php located in the /includes/modules/shipping folder.)

2. Reinstalled the USPS module just in case.

3. Now we are still getting the "...we are unable to find a USPS shipping quote..." error again for both international as well as domestic users:

What is the current weight that you are testing?

What are the settings in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ...

Here is the shipping weight screenshot. We had to put 1.8 in this example because when we put in the actual weight, the price was lower than the USPS shipping rate.
