Maximum shipping fee for a specific zone

Dear All,

I am looking at adding a cap to our shipping fees for a specific zone.

I already have a free shipping over a $xx.xx order

Do you folks have an idea on how could I implement a maximum shipping price?
It wouldn't depend on anything but the zone it is shipped to.
(Like a $2.99 shipping fee for locals...)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

which module does not matter

you need the total shipping fee has a max value for specific zones (country or state), right?

Then I guess you can add some customization code in checkout_shipping page after shipping value is calculated. Or you can add it to ot_shipping.

If I knew the shipping module(s) then a solution can be worked out ...

If Zone Rate is used, then it just needs to be configured correctly ...

If USPS or UPS is used then custom code needs to be written ...

If Item Rate is used then custom code needs to be written ...

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Right now, we use UPS and the freeshipper (for orders over a set amount).

I have 2 zones set but for sales tax purposes only. (our own state and the remaining continental states)

So custom code it is?

It would need to be custom code to check the shipping cost in USPS and manage when to block the shipping cost at a certain amount and what to charge ...

What is it you specifically are trying to do with the shipping and the maximum charge?
