Shipping Cost higher for some items only

i am trying to setup a shipping for a new product i have on my site but i need the shipping to be a lot higher for this item due to its weight. I will be adding more items like this in the future so i want to know if there is a way to have my items that weigh a lot more cost more to ship without it affecting my zone shipping rates?

hmm...your zone shipping module is working great except it can not detect those special items, which are heavy.

So I suggest you to make some changes to the existing zone module to do the following:
1. find if cart products has special items
2. if yes, add cost to current shipping rate (define you logic here)
3. total shipping cost is the normal zone rate + special items shipping cost

can you DIY on this?

ok so i did the per unit shipping module but when i do that it shows up as " BEST WAY " in the shipping section and its displaying that method for all other products with a way increased shipping rate. Any ideas how to fix this?

But also i need it setup so that if someone outside the US tries to order it will be a different price. This is getting confusing for me.

sorry bout flooding this post. Ok so i got my zone shipping how i want it setup now. Is there a way to just have a seperate shipping just for my "Machine Holders" Category?

As ever with any shipping problem that is slightly difficult, you should consider the Advanced Shipper module from Ceon.net; OK, it's not free, but in your case, as it's now almost 36 hours since you first asked for help, not to mention how long you struggled before that, I think the fee charged is really quite cheap.

This add-on will allow you to do exactly what you want without having to edit code, clone modules etc...you can have a shipping rate set up for anything from a single product to a single postcode, to a flat rate for the whole planet. You can ship by category, product, weight, order price, number of items...and a mixture of those.

The documentation is excellent.

What's more, ceon has even set up a demo on his site for you to try it for free.

for now i think ill just make an attribute FOR USA customers and one for other countries that just adds an additional cost to the item.

The demo is down on his site so i cant see what it does exactly
