Meta_tags.php not overriding english.php

Brand new site (third install, no demo data), 1.3.9, no addons, customized by using a .css file from the Mistik free template with a bunch of cosmetic mods (see fiddly - bits . com/Shop), read everything I could find in the forum, found two conflicting tutorials on the subject of customizing the browser bar, and am totally stuck.

Tutorials #17 & 36 both address this issue, but I've tried both methods without success; the meta tags referenced in english.php were moved to meta_tags.php and are commented out and un-commenting them breaks functionality as does copying the file to my custom directory with mods. I've gone into my CPanel file manager and searched on meta_tags.php and made sure I only have the one override on my site ('mine' is the directory in which I have customizations):

/public_html/fiddlybits/Shop/includes/languages/mine/meta_tags.php

/public_html/fiddlybits/Shop/includes/languages/english/meta_tags.php <<<mess with this one (modify or copy to my custom directory), it breaks my site - nothing but a blank page, as expected, having done that trick enough times now.

I conquered the 'sales message'. I bested 'Congratulations!'. Now, the only dragon left is the browser bar.

Help...please?

Replace meta_tags.php from the original copy of Zen cart you downloaded to fix the blank page...

My site's not broken so that's not going to do anything (and I have done multiple times). The only thing I can't seem to make work is the change to the browser bar.

You should have another override directory in this location..

includes/languages/english/mine/meta_tags.php
