Default I think I screwed up big time!

First, let me say I am a designer, not a web person, and code makes my head hurt. I downloaded a template for my new store, and read FAQs and tutorials on how to customize the template. I thought I was doing it right -- uploading custom images, making changes to php files, editing the layout boxes panel, etc.

I then decided to change to a new template, which would have been fine, had I done everything correctly. Now I realize that I somehow left out probably the most important step -- creating my custom folder. Yep, I've been editing the default folders.

How can I reset everything to the default, and basically start over? I have my custom images on my computer, so they won't be lost.

There is no way to revert back to the default template with one click.

Basically you have to back track your steps and rewrite all the files you edited with zen cart fresh download files.

Now you can appreciate the override system.

Yes, I now know about how the system is supposed to work. Fortunately I had not set up much of my store, so I didn't lose much. I made screen shots of the settings I had edited, then asked my web ost to reset my account to the original default settings. I'll rebuild my site the correct way, which I think will be a fantastic learning opportunity.
