Having a knightmare! Homepage URL

Hi All, If someone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

I would like my domain name to bring up the zen site without saying zencart at the end of the URL.

I tried to move my Zencart to a different folder (public_html) on my server, all went to sh1t. changed the appropriate config files thanks to some advice and still no dice so uninstalled zencart.

Then tried to re-install zencart with the "Path" field left blank, to force the install directly to the Public_html folder, not a sub folder within. The website now appears exactly as intended but I cannot log-in to the admin site any more, the page is simply blank!
