Need additional product info inputs

Hi All,
I am not sure how to approach this or what exactly to look for.

I need to have 2 additional input boxes for each product. One for Fitting guidelines and one for Care instructions.

What, if any, add-on will help accomplish this?

Or do I need to code in some tabbed content for each product to contain each of these sets of info?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

"additional input boxes"? Do you mean in the admin product editing page? It sounds like you want extra "description" type text/content that would be common to numerous different products. That would be best handled by swguy's boilerplate file technique - he has a tutorial on his site (thatsoftwareguy), and it has been discussed here recently.

Tabbed Products Pro unfortunately on tabs the content provided by Zen Cart by default.

I think Black Belt's suggestion is what I need.

Well although BLack Belt's suggestion is close to what I need, it is a little short.

I need to be able to have my client enter Extra product information on a per product basis. For Fitting and for Care. I really need two additional content input boxes and a way to access them in my templates as tabbed content - along with the product description. So three tabs total.

Is there any way to do this without hand coding in the tabs and panes in each product description?

If you read the documents that come with the tabbed pro. There is guide on how to setup global tabs.

As far as "new input fields" I am assuming you want new database fields that are related to the products that you can edit in the product_collect info page in admin. This needs another module http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=271

Once you get both modules working on the server. You can work on creating a new tab following the document.

Tried to get the short descriptions to work, but with no luck. Got the admin options; i.e. Display Product Short Descriptions in Product Info and Product Listing but no extra input box showed up in the product edit screen. ( collect_info )

I'll probably just drop the idea and find another way to pull it off.

just adding the table doesn't make it appear in the product page, you have to collect that data by patching the modules/product/collect_info.php and all other files modification.

I have duplicated that module and added more than 5 different fields to the product_description table.

Unfortunately I don't have time to figure out how to patch multiple files. I had to move from using a Wordpress plugin to using Zen Cart as the plugin could not be altered to allow for quantities on product variations ( colors, sizes etc. ).

I thought the Short Descriptions would at least add the input field in the collect_info page but it did not.

No problem, I'll figure another way :)
