cash on Pickup

I am about to go live selling tickets on line. Initially only the PayPal method will be used.

This is a problem for our ticket office as we would also like to sell tickets to wak in customers. We would want to use the shop stock database so we only sell tickets that are still available. This is important because we have multiple ticket offices on our preserved railway, and at special events often have limited seats available.

We dont want drop in customers to have to register, and hope they might have PayPal access.

So I figured use the 'Cash on Pickup' add-on.

I would like to have this work through a 'ticketshop' account so that walk-ins dont have to register. However we dont want people who buy on line to have this payment option.

Does anyone know of any way of only enabling the Cash on Pickup option for one user only?

Or any other ideas - any thoughts appreciated.

How will you do this?

I would not expect that a walk in will have a pc with them

Using a laptop at the till point in the ticket office, the till operator will use the computer to check ticket availability and 'sell' tickets from the database. Then take payment at the till.
The till operator will be logged in to the shop rather than the customer.

yes I could just have the till operator logged in as admin in one window andbrowser in another window. In the browser check availability and then in admin modify stock level for the choosen ticket
but thats long winded and open to error or misuse.

Actually, setup a customer account for this that the till operator logs into and they can process purchases as that customer for walk ins

You will have to search here for how to make the order status automatically delivered or processing so that stock is reduced

Thanks Cobra - I believe that is what I will need to do - however I dont want everyone to have 'Cash on Collect' option only 'till operator' log in.
I suspect that using 'zones' will do it - but I havent used them before.

Zones are established by country codes
I do not know what zones you wish to sell in??

If you have only your local area as a zone the the till address can be in any other country and you set a zone for that country

There is another way to do this that doesn't involve zones, but it does depend on whether the computers accessing from your till point(s) have fixed IP addresses.

If they DO, then you can add a bit of code to the cod files so that Cash on "Delivery" option only displays if the access is from one of those specific IP addresses.

We have a client doing exactly that for taking phone orders.
