Don't use this technique to load modules / add-ons to your ZC installation.

You should be using a reliable FTP program. Additionally, there is NO NEED to run the SQL for EasyPop. (SEE THE ACCOMPANYING README).

Using FTP, EasyPopulate can be loaded and installed in your store in under 45 seconds.

Use the proper techniques - read the accompanying README - and you'll be OK.

I can use an FTP program, I use FileZilla, for sites I don't have direct access to.

Unfortunately the README's and Install files for most add-ons are either written with half the proper instructions missing, or technical jargon.

They are also rammed with fixes and updates and amendments, that i haven't got a clue if I need them.

Schoolboy, I am really confused at exactly what i need to do, from start to finish, just to indstall the add on and get it working properly.

If you could help I would be very grateful.

    Hi Lam...

Firstly, FTP is the most reliable way to install modules - mainly because FTP will ensure that the INTEGRITY of the folder/file structure is retained.

Inside the MAIN DIRECTORY of an ADD-ON (or module), there is generally a number of SUB-DIRECTORIES and even SUB-SUB-DIRECTORIES.

The writer of a module will construct the directory TREE, to match exactly, the Directory Tree in zencart itself.

By uploading (via c-Panel) and unzipping a module, all you have done is unzipped all the files in ONE PLACE on your server. The CONTENTS of that module are not loaded into the corresponding folders (directories) in zencart... they are just sitting as a "lump" of files in the unzipped folder.

So... you MUST use FTP to load a module, because FTP will ensure that EACH FILE in the module goes into the CORRECT FOLDER in your zencart installation.

TECHNICALLY, you can use c-Panel uploading... but it will require you to keep detailed track of what file goes where... It will take HOURS to do it this way.... and is prone to errors.

Ariotek also acts in this way and maintains the integrity of the file structure, rather than just batching them all at top level.

Regardless of this I have used Filezilla to upload, and all the files required 'overwrite' because they were structured correctly.

However I am still having the same problem.

I am assuming you have managed to install this in some of your customers' zen cart stores, so if you could tell me the procedure you followe dto install it, I would be very grateful.

    Do NOT use auto-install facilities!

    Why... ?

Your ADMIN folder has probably been re-named, right? If you are using zc 1.3.9, you would have been FORCED to rename your admin folder. Now, in Easy Populate, there is a folder called admin. If you don't MANUALLY rename it to match your unique admin folder name, then no auto-install system in the world will ensure that the files go into the right place.

I can't say any more than that.

When I install EP on clients' sites, I use FTP and in general get it installed and working in under 45 seconds...

Also... when you used ariotek, it might have CREATED a folder called admin.

What folders do you have in your store ROOT directory?

Have you got a folder called zc_admin?

If so, you probably used ariotek, fantastico or softaculous to install zc in the first place...

    Am I right?

You seem to like "auto install"...

Get out of that habit... No webmaster worth his/her salt uses auto install and auto update... It's too dangerous.
