Duplicate Orders 1.3.8a

We're having a problem with orders duplicating and customers being charged twice as a result with Zen Cart 1.3.8a. I read another post on the forum talking about this and offering some code tweaks, but this did us no good. In addition, we put in place a function that prevents the "buy" button from being double clicked, so the users screen is frozen while the transaction process.

We've ruled out user error completely. The date stamps on these are the exact same second and double clicking the button or refreshing the page are not possible. Something is wrong with Zen Cart and I'm powerless to fix this and its a huge problem since this is of course people's money we're talking about.

Has anyone else experienced this and NOT been able to rectify it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You haven't indicated "when" this problem started happening, and how that compares with you posting about it just starting today.

A number of improvements were made in v1.3.9 to address the possibility of intermittent duplicate orders.
So, upgrading is the first most important troubleshooting step.

Additionally, the problem could be caused by an improperly coded addon.

This has been happening for a few months and it happens for what seems like after every hundred or so orders. We've decided to upgrade and see if that fixes the issue. It doesn't happen with any real pattern and doesn't happen a lot, but often enough to be costing us.

Yep, this glitch in Zen has set me back some money too. PayPal doesn't double bill the customer when this happens. Authorize.net does...and they like to hit us with a 25.00 fee each time!!!

Why would they hit you with a $25 fee? I've had a few duplicate orders over the years, and I simply log in to the terminal and void the extra order. No fee involved.

If you're indeed still running v1.3.8, your FIRST step should be to upgrade to the latest version. That's already been explained here in this thread.
