Checkout / Log-In Layout Issue - IE9

I have recently noticed a layout issue with my website, since upgrading to Internet Explorer 9. I never noticed it before whilst using Firefox but when a customer adds a product to the cart and attempts to checkout they are taken to the login page, however since it is part of the checkout process the paypal logo appears. The only problem is the overlapping text at the top of the boxes. Whilst using Firefox the returning customer login box was slightly lowered by around an inch, putting the boxes in a staggered position. Whilst using IE9 the boxes are exactly parallel causing this overlap. Does anybody have any advice on how I can fix this or even if I could just edit the text slightly to shorten it? Whatever is best really. Thanks all.

That's very odd. Both the DIVs which are those two boxes are set to widths of 46%, so there should be plenty of room for them. I suppose the problem is caused by the long legend text at the top of the left box.

One solution would be to turn off the two-column log-in in admin. That would put the log-in box for existing customers just above the registration fields for new customers. You can see that layout on my retail site (link below.)
