Products within Categories that have Sub-Categories?

I've been Googling this and can't find a definitive solution.

I want to have products within a Category that has other Sub-Categories. It seems Zen does not do this out of the box? Does anyone know of Mod or work around?

So e.g.

Cat1
------>Cat2
---------->Cat3
------------->Product4
------------->Product5
------------->Product6
---------->Cat4
------------->Product7
------------->Product8
------------->Product9
------>Product1
------>Product2
------>Product3

You would have to do a lot of coding as this will break many things from working correctly ...
